Feature Cabling Project: Diocese of Greensburg

Our Lady of Grace

Relieving Problems on a

Multi-Network Campus

Our Lady of Grace, a Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Greensburg has a campus where they were using two separate internet services to run their network.

Bridgeport Technology came into the project looking to help them relieve this problem and help reduce their costs on their network.

While cabling isn’t inexpensive, the overall savings after 1 year would more than pay for the cost of cabling.

The Issues

  • They had separate Internet services and were paying 2 bills for the same location.
  • They had separate networks that were not connected.
  • They wanted to upgrade to an IP phone system to eliminate their 2 separate phone bills.
  • They could not broadcast the sermons over their television network that is based in the rectory.

What Bridgeport Technology did

Bridgeport Technology directional drilled underground followed by the installation of approximately 450 feet of 6 strand fiber-optic cable.  By doing so, this enabled the 2 buildings to be connected on the same network and made it possible to upgrade their phone system and eliminate 1 of the ISP services and both analog phone services.  This also enabled the rectory to broadcast their sermons live on their TV network.

The Outcome

By drilling underground, we were able to complete the job in 70% less time, with minimal damage to the property, and all for a comparable price to conventional trenching and repair to the parking lot, sidewalks, and landscaping.
